Halloween Fun

This year Gram came to visit and left the kids a treat along with some nasty teeth. The kids loved it! Tyler didn't want his picture taken individually which is why he doesn't have one.

Silly Saying: Pig Shop

Kyle and I decided to start paying kids for things they do around the house. We figured that way they could earn money on their own and see that the harder they work the more money they earn. We also decided to make them put half of all they earn into savings. As we opened their savings account, the bank informed us of the incentive program they have for kids savings accounts. The kids all got piggy banks and each time they go in to the bank and make a deposit they got a stamp in their book. After 4 stamps they got to pick a prize out of the basket. Katelyn was SO excited about all of this. The next day she asked me if we could go to the "pig shop." It took me a minute to understand that the pig shop was the bank! Later I came in to find Brittney "playing pigs" with her new piggy bank and her toy piggy bank. The two pigs have become great friends. :)

How many people does it take to change Spencer's diaper? 3! Without the changing table 2 people hold his arms and legs while the third one does the dirty work. He is such a crazy kid!

Katelyn thought Fast Sunday meant it would be a fast or quick church/Sacrament Meeting so she kept asking when we would be done. It's her birthday today so she wants to go to primary and be sung to.

Zion's National Park Fall 2013

This fall Zion's became our playground. We chose to get a National Parks pass and made the short drive to the beautiful area many times. These are a few pictures of a couple adventures. One of my favorite times is when we stopped at the Weeping Rock just at sunset. The view was AMAZING! During one of our visits we saw 11 deer, 2 lizards, and 2 tarantulas--that's right TWO TARANTULAS!!! One was on a rock wall right next to my head and I had no clue until my little Ali saw it. RIGHT NEXT TO MY HEAD!!! We took a picture of one of the tarantulas but there was no way I was going to put a spider picture on my blog!

And yes, only real men have enough confidence to carry their daughters princess book bag.

Millions of peaches, peaches for me. Millions of peaches, peaches for free.

Ah, the old Peaches song from 1996 that still gets stuck in my head. This year I understood it a bit more. My little sister, Michelle, told me I could pick as many peaches as I wanted because their tree was over flowing with them. When we went up to Salt Lake for a visit and a baby blessing I took her up on her offer. I put the kids to work picking bags of peaches. The kids and their cousins were paid $1 a bag to pick peaches. Although I think Spencer ate more peaches then he packed. 6 full bags were put in the trunk of the van and the kids were so proud of themselves! Little did they know that later that night Ali would forget they were there, jump over the seat and squish them all over. I was planning on making them into jam, just not in that way. So the next morning back to Michelle's house we went.

Down in Santa Clara I went to work making jam. 6 full grocery bags of peaches makes much more jam than I realized. This isn't counting the two jars in the fridge or the peaches that went bad before I could make them into jam. Guess what our poor neighbors will be getting for Christmas.

Lagoon August 2013

We took the kids to Lagoon for the first time this year. Since many of Kyle's siblings have season passes they decided to come with us and it kind of turned into an Alverson Reunion when, while waiting in line for a ride, we randomly ran into Cody and his wife, Jessica. We had so much fun. Tyler and Garrett found a rollercoaster ride (I can't remember the name) that they went on over and over and over. After an ice cream break we decided to tour the pioneer area and we found the old jail. We locked the kids up for a while so we could have a break :). We stayed much later than we thought we would and the kids are already begging to go back.
